Google axes ‘Gchat’ instant messenger to change office gossip forever

Google Talk – the instant messenger that accompanies Gmail and is often referred to as “Gchat” – will no longer work from June 26.googlehangouts For those who would rather stare into their PCs rather than risk a conversation with their colleagues, Gmail is offering another chat feature. The email provider will replace Google Talk with Hangouts, which it said has a host of added benefits, including group video and integration with phone apps. A Google spokesperson wrote in a blogpost: “Hangouts offers advanced improvements over Google Talk such as group video calling and integration with other Google products.
