Girl drowned in Ullal sea found at Shirali beach

Bhatkal - 11 June 2012: A girl drowned in Ullal sea last week found here at Shirali beach today morning. The deceased have been identified as Rounaq Jahan (17). According to the sources, On Sunday, 3rd June 2012, Rounaq Jahan and her relative Uzma were playing at Ullal beach when suddenly a huge wave pulled them away into the sea. Uzma was rescued by the people present over there but Rounaq disappeared in the deep sea. Both girls were from Chikkamaglur district and they were on a trip to Ullal along with their family members.

Rounaq passed her PUC II examinations this year from Alva College Moodbidri and she has also cleared CET medical exams and interested in pursuing medical course.

It may be noted that, her dead body was found 8 days after the drowning incident some 160 km away from the location where she drowned. The dead body was handed over to her family after they identified her. A case has been registered in the Bhatkal town police station.
