Gas tanker topples in Sarpankatta of Bhatkal; one critically injured

Bhatkal 2 February 2019: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) A LPG tanker heading towards Karwar from Mangaluru toppled on the NH 66 at Sarpankatte of Bhatkal, instilling a sense sudden panic among the local residents. According to the reports, the tanker which was allegedly over-speeding, rammed into a passenger tempo that came from the opposite direction. As a result, the tanker toppled on NH 66, and crashed into a electricity poll beside the road. Tempo driver Narashima Mahadev Naik (39) sustained severe injuries in the incident and was rushed to the nearest hospital for treatment. The truck driver and cleaner managed to escape with minor injuries. Fire brigade team and local police rushed to the scene and sealed the traffic movement in the area before clearing the scene after confirming that there was no leakage from the tanker.
