Garbage piles up near Moosa Nagar, elevating risk of accidents

June 21, 2016 | Rizwan Gangavaly | Bhatkallys News Bhatkal: Litter has started piling up on the road that leads to Moosa Nagar, falling under Jaali Pattan panchayat limits, sending residents of the locality in a state of concern. Crowding of cattle and domestic animals like dogs near the garbage is elevating the risk of road accident and has made movement of people difficult in these areas. Piling up of garbage is also increasing the threat of catching airborne diseases. Public have opined that if the residents employ care in disposing the waste in bins or in far-off jungle, such a situation will not arise. Notably, panchayat officials have made arrangements for garbage collection once in 2-3 days but public is displaying lack of concern by dumping the waste on the road. The elections of Jaali pattan panchayat are over and members have been elected but President and Vice President posts are still lying vacant due to which garbage cleaning process and cleaning of drains has not yet been properly implemented. - ARF
