Four booked after Mankal Vaidya's complaint against fake messages of 'deal with Tanzeem'

Murdeshwar 05 May 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Murdeshwar police on Friday booked four people in connection with a message being forwarded on WhatsApp group against Bhatkal MLA Mankal Vaidya, stating that the MLA has allegedly cracked a secret deal with Bhatkal socio-political organization Majlis-e-Islah wa Tanzeem. Earlier, after receiving a complaint by the MLA himself, the Murdeshwar police had filed a case against unidentified people. Later, after initial investigation the police have identified four people for allegedly forwarding the messages on WhatsApp. Speaking to Bhatkallys.com Murdeshwar Police Sub-Inspector identified the four people as Umesh Moger, Mahesh Naik, Santosh and Jagadish, all residents of Murdeshwar. The four have been booked under Section 171 G of Indian Penal Code which reads "False statement in connection with an election.—Whoever with intent to affect the result of an election makes or publish­es any statement purporting to be a statement of fact which is false and which he either knows or believes to be false or does not believe to be true, in relation to the personal character or conduct of any candidate shall be punished with fine" The PSI further confirmed that the investigations are underway and that the four will soon be asked to be present themselves in the police station for further inquiry.
