Forest officials seize 73 kg of Sandalwood while being illegally smuggled from Sirsi forest

Sirsi 26 August 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) The forest officials of Hulekal region on Friday night seized sandalwood weighing about 73 kgs while it was being illegally smuggled here at forest range of Hulekal of Sirsi Taluka. According to the sources, the forest officials during their patrolling duty at night noticed two men on a bike who were allegedly smuggling the wood, and when the officials instructed them to stop, the bikers abandoned the bike and fled from the scene into the dark. The police seized the sandalwood weighing about 73kgs and the bike in which the woods were being smuggled, a man hunt has been launched for both the accused.
