Fitra Distributed to poor people in Bhatkal, nearby places

Bhatkal:  1060 quintals (1,60,000 kgs) of fitra rice was collected by Fitra Committee of Bhatkal, this year, and distributed on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr to deserving families of Bhatkal, Honnavar, Shiroor, Kundapur and nearby places. Speaking at a function organized at Ali Public School, Bhatkal, the committee’s Chairman Moulana Ilyas Jakti Nadvi said that distribution cells were formed in Bhatkal, Shirali, Shirur, Honnavar, Kirimanjeshwar and Kumta and fitra rice was distributed to 1543 deserving families. On an average, a family was provided with 50 kgs of rice with the exception of some destitute and large families who were provided with 100 kgs of rice. Noteworthy, the distribution of fitra in Bhatkal has been in execution since past 30 years and is progressing year after year. In the gathering, leaders of various educational and religious institutions, heads of various jamaats in gulf countries, members of tanzeem, members of Anjuman, the organizers and the members of the committee were present. - ARF
