Fisherman dies after drowning at fishing dock in Bhatkal

Bhatkal 7 March 2019: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) A local fisherman of Bhatkal Taluka on Thursday afternoon drowned after slipping into the water from an anchored ship here at Bhatkal Bunder.
The deceased has been identified as Uday Naik(40), a resident of Karikal.
Sources said that, Uday fell into the water after getting slipped from an anchored ship. Local fishermen immediately contacted prominent social workers of Bhatkal, Nazir Kashimji and Muazziz Kola seeking for help as they couldn’t trace him.
Getting an alert from local social workers, a team of local youngsters swung into action and found him inside the waters after about an hour long operation. However, by then Uday had breathed his last.
Uday Moger is survived by his wife and three children.
The deceased was later taken to Bhatkal Government hospital for post mortem.
The community of local fishermen thanked the local Muslim youngsters for responding their call for help and support each time when such incident happens.
