First time ever: National level Karate Championship in Bhatkal

Bhatkal 17 December 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Shotokan Karate Institute of Bhatkal is set to organise a National level Karate championship for the very first time in the history of Bhatkal on 22 and 23 December 2018, at the Shanbag hall of New English School Bhatkal here. The championship will be organised in the memory of late master of Karate and the founder of the institute Vasudev Naik, who founded the Shotokan Karate Institute, earlier known as 'Ying Yang Karate school' in Bhatkal about 25 years ago, and died in 2017 due to brain hemorrhage. After the demise of Vasudev, his student Suresh Moger has taken over the institute and manages it under the supervision of C Rajan, chief instructor YYIMK. The institute has earlier hosted district and state level championships but it will be the first time that the coastal town will witness national level championship here. Members and Participants from Ying Yang Karate Association, Karate Association of India (KAI), Akhila Karnataka Sports Karate Association, World Karate Federation (WKF), International Shotokan Karate club and others are expected to be present during the two day event.
