Fire accident averted at jewellery shop in Bhatkal

Bhatkal 12 Jan 2018: Quick response from the local fire brigade team saved the day for the residents at DT road of Shirali where a Jewellery shop caught fire after shot circuit on Friday afternoon.
After the fire broke out in the shop which was closed, alert residents after watching the fuming smoke out of the shop alerted the local fire brigade who reached the spot in no time and took out most of the gold ornaments and other valuables and furniture out of the shop and meanwhile took control over the fire. However the shop was left severely damaged.
The fire department made sure no other shop in the complex is affected by the fire before leaving the spot. The fire officials struggled for over two hours before clearing the scene.
Owner of the shop Shree Kala informed the officials that during the time of the incident gold stock worth over Rs. 20 lac was in the store and that most of it was found to be safe, however she reported the loss over Rs. Four lac including the damages to the shop.
Speaking to Bhatkallys.com both fire officials and the owner of the shop said that the shot circuit in the TV was the reason behind the fire breaking out.
Fire department team was led by officer B Ramesh and Nazir Ahmed Attar. Bhatkal Rural PSI Manjappa also reached the spot and inspected the shop.
A case has been registered at Bhatkal Rural Police Station.
