Filing of assembly nomination papers begin from today; Following of rules mandatory

From today onwards, filing of Assembly election nomination papers has begun. In that regards, a press meet was held at IB (Circuit House) with participation from party leaders and Assistant Commissioner Mr. V R P Manohar said that Election Commissioner has set many rules and regulations in this regard and abiding by them is mandatory for every party candidate. Giving details on this, he expressed that at the time of nomination only five persons will be allowed inside the office and while entering the office premises only three vehicles will be permitted. Also, a restriction has been posted on shouting of slogans and carrying of processions till a distance of 100 meters from the office.
On this occasion, Assistant Commissioner mentioned that the candidate has to open a new account at the bank and from today onwards has to give complete details of all election expenditures. If the expenditure is more than twenty thousand, the payment has to be made by cheque only. He also has to produce details of expenditures before the prescribed period set by Election Commissioner. Otherwise a legal action will be initiated against the candidate and the candidate will be found as ineligible and this will be reported to Election Commissioner.
He said that Tahsildar has been given the authority on every Taluka's sector officer. Advertising activities and other activities of every candidate will be monitored. He also mentioned that they have kept strict watch on paid news of news agencies and the rules have also been imposed on advertisements.
On this occasion, Krishnanand Pai of JD(S), Bhatkal Block's Congress President, Mr. Vithal Naik, BJP's Dinesh Naik and other party leaders were present.
