Family pays with heavy cash and valuables for watching too much TV!

Mandya: Parents always tell their children that watching too much TV is bad for them. One family learned this the hard way when they were looted right under their nose while they were still in their house... watching TV. The incident happened on the SBI Bank Road in the Vivekananda locality on the night of July 6. Jayaram and his mother were engrossed in watching TV while Meenakshi, Jayaram's wife, was cooking in the kitchen when a thief broke into their house. Seeing that the family was busy, the thief took the golden opportunity and began to snatch all the cash and gold that he could find. The thief fled the scene with his loot when Meenakshi screamed after noticing him. The thief managed to make away with Rs 6.5 Lakh in cash and gold weighing 5 grams. According to sources, Jayaram and his mother were busy watching their favourite TV soap opera at 9.30 PM when the incident occurred. PSI Kumar visited the spot and investigations are ongoing.
