The force distributed the cartoons yesterday after the arrest of a man who allegedly followed women into elevators and raped them at knifepoint. The serial attacker was dubbed ‘Women Hunter’. The 30-year-old Egyptian is also accused of threatening to kill his victims if they resisted. Police caught the suspect after receiving four reports from women about a man raping or attempting to rape them. The women, who were all Asian, gave similar descriptions of their attacker and said he threatened them with a knife. Colonel Rashid Mohammad Bu Rasheed, head of Abu Dhabi CID, said the suspect would approach victims in elevators and then drag them to the staircases of buildings and rape them.” “He targeted female victims late at night,” added Bu Rasheed. “Sometimes he beat them up and threatened to kill them if they fought back or if they reported him to police,” he said. Brigadier Maktoum Al Sharifi, chief the capital’s Metropolitan police, said: “Parents should accompany their children whenever they go out or when they are using elevators for their safety.” He also advised families to always be mindful about the movements of their maids especially when they got out alone at night. He said domestic staff were particularly vulnerable. The public was also told to be careful with men carrying out maintenance in their buildings and not to leave their children alone with them. -7days
