Bhatkal 30 Oct 2017: Think twice before you post something online. Arvind Bhat, a resident of Bhatkal, has landed himself in troubled waters after posting his views against former MLA JD Naik on Facebook. The post – which went viral – levelled a wide range of allegations against the former MLA – citing his involvement in an alleged murder case and unhappiness with BJP.
“These are baseless allegations and there is no truth behind them. I did not join BJP with an expectation to contest polls or hold an important position. I will continue to stay with the party till I retire from politics,” said JD Naik at a press briefing to counter the allegations.
The former MLA has filed a police complaint against Arvind Bhat for posting misleading information on the social media platform. Interestingly, the post claimed JD Naik was planning to switch back to Congress as the party plans to field a secular candidate from the Namdhari community to avoid a split in votes between Hindus and Muslims.
On the subject of holding dialogue with Bhatkal’s premier Muslim orgnaisation - Majlis-E-Islah Wa Tanzeem – he clearly showed a lack of interest.
“I had written letters during the assembly election in 2013 and none of them were answered by Tanzeem. This has left no hope of working with the Muslim socio-political organisation,” he said.
