EVM, VVPAT demonstration held in Bhatkal

Bhatkallys News Bureau Bhatkal 07 April 2018: Election Commission (EC) on Saturday organized a demonstration on the working of Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) and Voter-Verified Paper Audit Trial (VVPAT) machines here at Government Kannada School near Jali Patan Panchayat office in Bhatkal. The demonstration was supervised by BL Engineer Ashok Kumar and Sector Officer Ganesh Yaji, who explained the working of the machines to a number of locals who had come to see the demonstration. During the demonstrations the users were also explained about the VVPAT machines and how voters can verify their votes for seven seconds on the machine's screen which has minimized any possibility of hacking or hampering into the EVMs as claimed by the political outfits across the country. The VVPAT machines are being introduced in Karnataka elections for the first time. Panchayath members Aftab Hussain and Syed Adam along with local residents were present during the demo. Karnataka will go into polling on May 12 2018 while the counting of the votes will be conducted on May 15.
