MUMBAI: A two-year-old boy, Adihant Tamboli, has died after drowning in a drain at MJ Road in Chembur East on Thursday. The boy was playing on the footpath close to his grandparents’ house when he fell into the drain. The boy’s family saw him fall into the drain and raised an alarm. The police and local BMC staffers rushed to the spot and pulled him out within 15 minutes. “We rushed him to Shatabdi Hospital at Govandi where he was declared as dead,” said Sunil Gaokar, senior inspector of Trombay police station. Adihant’s father, Parvez, is an engineer from Beed in Maharashtra. Adihant had come to his grandparents’ home in Chembur. “We will conduct an investigation into the matter,” said Srinivas Khilje, assistant municipal commissioner of the M East ward.
