Elderly woman killed in road accident opposite Bhatkal Bus Stand

December 10, 2015 | Rizwan Gangavaly | Bhatkallys News Bhatkal: An elderly woman, identified as Nafeesa Jakti (65), wife of Shafi Shabandari (Moderator - Jamia Islamia Bhatkal) was killed in a road accident today at around 3.30 pm in front of Bhatkal Bus Stand. Shafi Shabandari was heading from Bhatkal Main Road to his residence in Azad Nagar when a state-run bus suddenly emerged from Bhatkal Bus Stand due to which he lost control of the vehicle and hit the bus, a source informed. As a consequence of this collision, his wife who was riding pillion on his scooter got dislodged from the bike and a truck coming from the opposite direction ran over her resulting into her death. She was rushed to government hospital in Bhatkal but was pronounced dead on arrival. The dead body was handed over to the family after the autopsy. - ARF
