Eight people were killed after their car collided with a truck on the Rohtak-Rewari highway in Haryana’s Jhajjar district, leading to a massive pileup involving 50 vehicles on Monday. Confirming the deaths, Jhajjar SP Pankaj Nain told The Indian Express that eight others were also injured in the incident. The victims were travelling in a jeep, officials said. “As the cruiser jeep was involved in an accident with a truck, other vehicles which were close behind also rammed into each other. The visibility was poor due to dense fog,” a Jhajjar police official said. The vehicles collided each other after roads were enveloped by a thick sheet of fog as the mercury continues to dip in north India, leading to extremely low visibility. The minimum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 4.6 degrees Celsius in the early hours of Monday. The fall in the temperature is due to cold wave conditions prevailing over northwest India, the Indian Meteorological Department was quoted as saying. Source: Indian Express
