EC bans exit poll and opinion poll

CHENNAI: The Election Commission has prohibited the publication, broadcast and telecast of the results of exit polls between April 7 and May 12 in Tamil Nadu, where the election process will be in vogue during this period. In a notification, the EC also barred the opinion polls or poll survey during the period of 48 hours fixed for conclusion of poll. Elections to 39 Lok Sabha constituencies and bypoll to Alandur Assembly segment in Tamil Nadu will be held on April 24.
