Dubai Bhatkalli community remembers Muallim Zafar Ali

Jan 17, 2011 (Bhatkallys News): The Bhatkalli community in Dubai paid its rich tributes to late Muallim Zafar Ali at a condolence meet hosted by BMJ(D). Leading figures from within the community presented a portrait of the simpleton who worked for the betterment of community and Zafar was an ardent social worker.

Born into a poor family, his father Anwar Hussain Muallim was an employee of Anjuman. He was a self made man. Struggling to find avenues of higher education in Mumbai, Zafar Ali took up a position in the education department of Maharashtra Government. A bureaucrat in the Maharashtra government, Zafar Ali was known to have extensive knowledge of public policy in the education framework. A social worker by choice, he served in key positions of Bhatkal Muslim Jamat Mumbai in 1960 and later took a lead in providing the Anjuman Islam Mumbai with a minority status. Over the last ten years, he dedicated his services to Anjuman Hami-e-Muslimeen in various capacities and served as the general secretary and vice president. He was also an active participant in the activities of Bhatkal Jamatul Muslimeen and served the institution as its vice president.

A trademark characteristic of his personality, Zafar Ali was said to be a strict law abiding citizen who was hawk-eyed in financial transactions. He was also remembered as a person who remained on Wudu at all times and made it for prayers on all occasions irrespective of rain or sunshine. Zafar Ali dedicated his efforts in maintaining a smooth financial infrastructure of any institution by avoiding unnecessary expenditure. Always on time for meetings and functions, his regular Tahajjud prayers and Sunnah rozas were brought to light at the condolence meet.

The condolence meet started with the recitation of Holy Quran as Moulavi Irshad Afrika compered the proceedings.

Some of the personalities who spoke at the condolence meeting included S.M. Syed Khalil, Moulvi Abdul Mateen Muniri, Maliki Abubaker, Mohtehsam Abdul Bari, Shabandri Amjed, Shabandri Mohammed Mohsin, S.M Syed Hashim and Mohammed Ghouse Khalifa.

May Allah grant him magfirah and accept his good deeds while bearing patience to his family who are bereaving his loss.
