Dr Badrul Hassan Muallim passed away in a shocking road accident near Kumta

Bhatkal - 24 May 2011: In a shocking road accident, Bhatkal Tanzeem President, Dr Badrul Hassan Muallim and his four family members lost their lives when their car was hit by a speeding truck coming from opposite direction. The deceased have been identified as Dr Badrul Hassan Muallim, his two daughters, Zia and Tarannum and his son-in-law Aslam Gawai. His one more daughter, grandson and cab driver Salman from Muglihonda are in critical condition while his son Arqam Muallim is also injured. All injured were taken to Manipal and Mangalore hospitals.

According to the sources, Badrul Hassan Muallim including his seven family members were on their way to Dandeli to attend a function. When they reached Kumta at around 12 noon, this unfortunate incident took place. It may be noted that, Mr Arqam Muallim is a Technical Officer in an Indian Air Force and currently holding a Flight Lieutenant position. He was in Bhatkal on vacation.

Meanwhile all business establishments and educational institutions were shut-down following this tragic incident as a mark of respect.

As per the latest reports available from Manipal, the seriously injured Mughniya Takallum also succumb to her injuries and breathed her last at Manipal Hospital. Her dead body is on the way to Bhatkal.

The dead body of late Badrul Hassan Muallim is kept in Tanzeem Hall while the dead bodies of Zia and Tarannum is at their residence next to Tanzeem office. The dead body of Aslam Gawai is at his residence located in Azad Nagar. The burial of late Badrul Hassan and his daughters may be delayed as their relatives are arriving from the Gulf. Namaz-e-Janazah of Aslam Gawai will be offered after Isha prayers at Millia Masjid and the burial will take place at Nawayath Colony graveyard.
