DPCA issue Karnataka HC pulls up state govt on non compliance

BENGALURU: Pulling up the state government for failing to fulfill the assurance given to court in relation to constitution and functioning of district police complaints authorities(DPCA), the Karnataka high court has directed for filing of an affidavit by senior official by Thursday. This was after the court was informed that so far in only 21 districts the authority has been set up . "Why you have not set up in those nine districts ? Are you giving up those districts to AP or TN ? You have given an undertaking of complying the order in September last year and I gave you a certificate last time. Now I have to withdraw it.You have misused the trust of this court" Vacation Judge Justice A N Venugopala Gowda strongly observed and declined to give more time. The court had given series of directions while hearing a petition filed by Adarsh G K, General Secretary,Human Rights Defenders Forum. -TOI
