District-level Dasara Sports Meet in Uttara Kannada on September 6

Karwar, Aug 23: The annual district-level Dasara Sports Meet for Uttara Kannada will be held on September 6 at the Shri Marikamba District Stadium in Sirsi, according to a notification from the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports.

 

A range of competitions will be organised across different venues in Sirsi. Athletics, volleyball, kho-kho, kabaddi, ball badminton, hockey, throwball, handball, basketball, tennis, netball, and swimming will take place at the Shri Marikamba Stadium. Football matches are scheduled at the Sirsi Forestry College grounds, shuttle badminton and table tennis at the Yellapur Naka Forest Community Hall, and yoga competitions at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Bhavan on Yellapur Road. Wrestling bouts will be held at the Haliyal Akhada.

 

Athletes who secured first or second place in individual events and first place in team events at the taluk-level tournaments are eligible to participate. Winners from this district-level meet will go on to represent Uttara Kannada in the divisional-level competitions.

 

The organisers have clarified that only athletes from Uttara Kannada district are eligible. Participants must carry valid identification and proof of residence, such as school or college ID, Aadhaar, ration card, voter ID, or any government-issued document. Players from other districts will not be allowed, and violators may face disciplinary action.

 

Competitors should report to their respective venues by 9:00 a.m. on the day of the meet. Athletes from uniformed services are not eligible. Students or employed participants must provide valid ID from their institution or workplace. Carrying an Aadhaar card copy is compulsory.
