District in-charge minister RV Deshpande visits Majlis-e-Islah wa Tanzeem ahead of assembly elections

Bhatkal 03 May 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Senior Congress leader and Uttara Kannada District in-charge minister RV Deshpande today visited local socio-political body Majlis-e-Islah wa Tanzeem and held a meeting with the body's executive members and members of political panel of the body.
Deshpande arrived at 12.30 pm along with Bhatkal-Honnavar MLA Mankal Vaidya and Bhatkal Block Congress President Vittal Naik.
General Secretary of Majlis-e-Islah wa Tanzeem Altaf Kharuri chaired the meeting, and submitted a memorandum to the minister reminding him of several developmental work that is still pending in and around Bhatkal.
Representatives of several member Jamat of Majlis-e-Islah wa Tanzeem from across the constituency were also present and spoke of problems and pending work in their respective localities.
The memorandum submitted by Tanzeem, mainly focused on core issues like cleansing of Sharabi river, resolving the forest land and benami properties issues, representation of Muslim leaders in the state government from the constituency and other pending work.
Speaking on the occasion, Deshpande assured the members of taking up all the issues after coming to power after the elections and considering the memorandum after forming the government. The minister however said the forest land issue fall under the central government's jurisdiction and that can be resolved only when the Congress party will come in to power once again in the center after 2019 general elections.
He also assured that he will look into the issue of establishing Housing Board in Bhatkal and asked Tanzeem to propose a potential land for the project.
MLA Mankal Vaidya also assured the members of taking up the Sharabi river cleansing project at the earliest if he is elected once again.
Aftab Kola presented vote of thanks to the Minister and MLA and wished them luck for the assembly elections before concluding the meeting.
