District Administration demolishes 29 shops on National Highway in Karwar

Karwar 27 August 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Following the orders of the district administration the officials of IRB Infrastructures on Sunday demolished about 29 shops here at NH-66 of Amadalli of Karwar. The operation that was conducted with the directions of Tahsildar Shridevi Bhat, destroyed 29 shops on Sunday morning, on NH66. However, about nine houses were left out from demolition drive and were asked to vacate the houses before Ganesh Chaturti. “For over 150 years our forefathers owned this shop and were leading the life through running this shop, and now all of a suddent the officials seized our shops and demolished it.  They have not even paid us compensation” said a local shopkeeper present there. The officials faced strong oppositions from the local shopkeepers. However, the deployed police personnel kept a check all the happening and interventions during the operation and hence no untoward incident was reported. (Bhatkallys News Bureau/ Fristen Dias)
