Diesel tanker overturns in Bhatkal; lifted amidst heavy deployment of police and fire personnel

Bhatkal 25 August 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) A diesel tanker that was heading towards Kolar from Mangaluru overturned on NH 66 of Bhatkal in the early hours of Saturday, near Sunday market here in Bhatkal. Bhatkal town police personnel along with Fire department officials rushed to the spot and inspected the spot looking for any possible leakage of the diesel, however a fire brigade vehicle with fire brigades and two police constable was deployed at the spot till the time the truck was lifted in the evening. According to the police, no injury was reported in the incident and the driver too was not drunk, as claimed by some of the messages on local social media groups. Bhatkal PSI Basavaraj added "The driver was not drunk, it is just rumors, we filed a case and subsequently the driver secured bail, both the driver and the tanker were released". The tanker was lifted with the help of a heavy duty crane in the afternoon, all the traffic were blocked while the lifting was in place with deployment of fire and police personnel monitoring the movements carefully.
