BENGALURU: Dense fog delayed departure and arrival of over 65 flights to and from the Kempegowda International Airport on Saturday morning. Over 1,000 flyers had no option but to wait as heavy fog between 6 and 7am dipped visibility to 100 metres, putting air traffic controllers in a tight spot. Overall, 38 flights took off late and 27 made a delayed landing. Officials said such delays are having a cascading effect on flight schedules, as most domestic flights make a number of trips connecting five or more cities in a single day. On On Friday, seven flights between Bengaluru and New Delhi were delayed due to fog in both the cities. Among the stranded on Saturday was a senior Congress leader who had to wait inside an aircraft that was in the queue to depart from the KIA airstrip.
