Delhi court discharge three accused from 2010 Jama Masjid blast case due to lack of evidence

Zaorez Shabab NEW DELHI: A Delhi court on Tuesday discharged three co-accused in the 2010 Jama Masjid blast case for lack of evidence against them. Additional Sessions Judge Sidharth Sharma discharged Syed Ismail Affaque, Abdus Saboor and Riyaz Ahmad Sayeedi, who were named in the charge sheet by the police. The court, however,  ordered framing of charges against alleged Indian Mujahideen (IM) operative Ahmed Siddibapa alias Yasin Bhatkal and 10 others accused Ahmed, alleged co-founder of the terrorist outfit Indian Mujahideen, is on trial for four separate terror cases. Additional Sessions Judge Sidharth Sharma had reserved order on July 18 after concluding the hearing of arguments on charges in the cases. On September 19, 2010, two bikers had fired at tourists of Jama Masjid in Old Delhi. Two Taiwanese visitors were injured. which was followed by a mild explosion from a bomb fitted in a car left in that area. Ahmed, his aide Asadullah Akhtar and other alleged IM operatives are facing trial in various terror cases, including 2010 Jama Masjid attack and 2008 serial blasts cases. He was earlier awarded the death sentence by a Special NIA Court in December 2016 in 2013 Hyderabad bomb blasts case, which had claimed 18 lives.
