The son of a Delhi Police Assistant Sub Inspector has been arrested for brutally beating a woman earlier this month inside an office space in Uttam Nagar. The video of the incident went viral on social media. Additional Public Relations Officer Anil Mittal confirmed that the arrest was made on Friday afternoon. A senior police officer said that the accused, identified as Rohit Kumar Tomar, son of ASI Ashok Kumar, has been arrested for assaulting two women on different occasions. His former girlfriend approached the police on September 11 alleging that he has been threatening her to be with him, after which he was arrested as a part of preventive measures under the Criminal Procedure Code. The woman approached the police again on Thursday, alleging that she had been molested, and the accused was intimidating her by showing a video of a woman being beaten by him. “He threatened her by saying that if she doesn’t do as he says, he’ll beat her up the same way as he is beating the woman in the video,” the officer said, adding that charges of molestation and criminal intimidation were added in the First Information Report. Woman in video alleges rape The woman in the video was then identified and approached on Thursday night after which she gave a complaint to the police on Friday alleging that she has been raped. A case on charges of rape and causing hurt has been registered at Uttam Nagar Police station. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh tweeted on Friday morning regarding the incident saying that he has seen the video and asked the Commissioner of Police Amulya Patnaik to take action.
