BHATKAL: One of Karnataka’s leading English Daily has carried a detailed article on the food of Navayaths written by community’s prominent journalist, Mr. Aftab Kola who is currently based in Muscat. The article says that the traditional dishes are being forgotten. It says, “In a world where fast food rules, will our children ever get to hear about mudkuley, satpatra nevri, tairlose (eggs and sugar fried in ghee), humalli poli, katripaati, donney, etc?”
Well-researched, the article can be a good reference for a book on the cuisine of Navayaths. The article ends with, “I have made a sincere attempt to throw some light on the traditional cuisine of the Navayaths but we need to explore more.”
