Data: 85% road deaths due to reckless driving

BENGALURU: It is relatively good news for Bengaluru from the National Crime Records Bureau. There's a 4% dip in the number of road accidents in the city in 2014. There was also a marginal drop in fatalities in road accidents. While 771 people died in road accidents in 2013, 729 were killed in 2014. Dangerous driving cost most of the lives in the city: 626 of the 729 deaths. However, Bengaluru was among the top three of cities of the country with maximum number of accidents, behind New Delhi and Chennai. There were more accidents due to bad weather (43 with seven deaths) than driving under the influence of liquor (13 cases with 10 deaths). -TOI
