Dalit Sangharsh Samiti demands ticket for Dalit candidate

Bhatkal – 25 Nov 2012: ‘Out of 6 assembly seats in Uttara Kannada district, atleast one seat must be reserved for Dalit candidate.’ This was demanded by the Secretary of Dalit Sangharsh Samiti, Mr Chandrakant Karoli while addressing a press meet held here at Hindu colony. He said that despite having more than one lakh Dalit population in the district, we are not getting sufficient representation from any political parties. He also announced holding a protest outside DC office on Dr B R Ambedkar’s birthday on 6th December against injustice and atrocities on Dalit community. He also warned if their demands were not met, district incharge minister’s house will be gheraod. He expressed satisfaction over the release of one crore for the construction of Ambedkar Bhavan at Sirsi’s Dalit locality by the Chief Minister of Karnataka when he visited the place. He demanded construction of similar kind of Ambedkar Bhavan at Bhatkal.
On this occasion Mr Narayan Shirur, Mr Karan Eranavadar, Mr Ghanshyam Revankar, Mr Hanumanth, Mr Umesh Shirali and Mr Ravi Kalbha were present.
