New Delhi, Oct 21: Adding a fresh twist to Dadri lynching incident, a National Minority Commission (NMC) inquiry has submitted a report terming the Dadri lynching a ‘planned incident’. The one-member commission probe concluded that death of Mohammad Akhlaq by mob was not ‘spontaneous act’. “Everyone, including the family which came under attack, was fast asleep. And very suddenly enough people gathered to attack. They could not have gathered in five minutes… there has to be some planning. It was not a spontaneous act,” NMC member Farida Abdullah Khan said after visiting the spot in Bisada village where Akhlaq was killed by mob. A report in the Indian Express quoting Khan said that citizenship rights of Muslim are under serious threat. “One community cannot live at the mercy of other communities. The Constitution gives everyone the right to practice one’s religion and culture. The state should be able to guarantee everyone their citizenship rights. Give an assurance. The citizenship rights of Muslims cannot be denied,” she said. She also raised concern over the rising communal hatred in the country and said the situation has become worse as people are not condemning such shameful incidents. Farida appreciated the efforts taken by the local administration to restore peach in the area.”The Hindus, especially the elderly, wanted to meet and told us that they were willing to offer support in identifying the culprits. It did surprise us. We have visited such spots earlier and generally we have seen the locals wash off their hands. Here, they told us they want those behind the killing to be punished,” she said. Mohammad Akhlaq was beaten to death by a mob following an announcement from a local temple that he consumed and stored beef. Agencies
