Bhatkal: Supporters of all the three constituents of the Mahagathbandhan — JD (U), RJD and Congress — celebrated their landslide victory in the Bihar Assembly elections with gusto and fanfare across India. In Bhatkal too activists of Congress were seen bursting crackers and shouting slogans to celebrate the victory of Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance).
The Mahagathbandhan of Nitish Kumar and Lalu Prasad swept the poll bagging 178 assembly seats, five less than the three-fourth majority mark in the 243-member assembly.
The BJP-led NDA could manage only 58 seats, while other political parties and independents got only 7 seats.
“The result of Bihar elections will have national impact,” said Grand Alliance leaders Nitish Kumar and Lalu Prasad in their first press interaction after the resounding victory.
