Counterfeiter creates fake account on Facebook in name of teacher in Shirali to siphon off money

Bhatkal: September 27, 2020 (Bhatkallys News Bureau) After trying to grab money by creating a fake account on Facebook in the name of Karwar sub-inspector and Bhatkal ASP, now, in the name of Shridhar Shet, a famous teacher hailing from Shirali of Bhatkal taluka, a fake page on Facebook was created to siphon off money.
According to the report, an emotional message is being sent by this fake account in which it is being said that their relative is being admitted to the ICU due to serious illness. Following such an emotional message, many of his students transferred money to a fake account through Google Pay. It is reported that after the message was sent from this fake account, many students paid money but some of their friends recognized this as a fraudulent message and soon reported it to Shridhar Shet.
In this regard, Shridhar Shet has written on his real Facebook account that a counterfeiter is trying to siphon off money in his name so no one should transfer money in his name.
Police have shut down the fake account page since the fraud was uncovered. Online fraud is on the rise nowadays especially after the Covid-19 pandemic. Sometimes the accounts are emptied by calls in the name of the bank manager to block the ATMs, and sometimes attempts are made to siphon off money by sending such messages. Therefore, public should not give account details when asked by any unknown person and immediately report such call to the police.
