Kundapur: Fishing done by women and youth fishers is also an agriculture. Therefore the coalition government of the state has already taken a decision on implementing a permanent scheme for the fishers, said Chief Msinister HD Kumaraswamy.
He was speaking after inaugurating a women fishers conference organised on behalf of the JDS-Congress alliance candidate from Udupi-Chikkamagalur Lok Sabha constituency at Nehru Maidan in Kundapur on Wednesday.
"Waiving off the loan of a few hundred crore rupees of fishers and co-operative societies, will not be a burden for a government, which has waived off Rs. 45,000 crore loan of farmers. It will be a violation of Model Code of Conduct if I announce the loan waiver now. After the elections, I will visit the coastal districts one day and discuss the fisher's problems and try to resolve them," Kumaraswamy assured.
