The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has mandated a dress code for candidates writing the Common Entrance Test (CET) between April 15 and April 17.

The dress code is as follows: men/women — half-sleeve attire, preferably collarless. For men, it is “simple pants with minimal/no pockets. Kurta-pyjamas, jeans, and shoes are prohibited. All electronic devices, including mobile phones and earphones, will not be allowed inside the exam hall,” said a release.

KEA officials also instructed candidates to show up at the centres one-and-a-half hours before the start of the examination.

“Police and Home Guards will conduct thorough checks before allowing candidates into exam halls. Candidates must arrive at least one-and-a-half hours early for security screening. Facial recognition and QR code verification will ensure candidate authenticity,” said H. Prasanna, Executive Director, KEA.

He also said that “to curb malpractice, the exam will be monitored via CCTV surveillance, similar to recruitment tests. Webcasting will track all 775 exam centres in real-time. District-level authorities, including deputy commissioners and chief executive officers of zilla panchayats, will oversee the process.”

Mr. Prasanna urged students not to skip CET even if they scored low or have failed the PU exam in their first attempt, as CET offers a chance to improve rankings.
