Cold wave conditions to prevail over interior Karnataka till January 14

MANGALURU: Cold wave conditions will prevail over some parts of interior Karnataka until January 14. Uppinangady hobli in Puttur taluk of Dakshina Kannada district recorded maximum temperature of 41°C on January 12 at 1.45pm. Halburga hobli in Bhalki taluk of Bidar district recorded lowest minimum temperature of 4°C at 3.15am on January 13. Maximum temperature fell at few places over north interior Karnataka and Malnad region and changed little over remaining parts of the state. Minimum temperature changed little over the state. More than 90% relative humidity has been recorded in 14% geographical area in the state. Less than 25% of relative humidity has been recorded in 92% geographical area in the state. Rainfall over the state is considered as negligible. Very light rain was recorded in 15 gram panchayats, and no rain in remaining 2039 gram panchayats across Karnataka. Karnataka for period from January 7 to January 13 recorded deficit rainfall of 88%. Against normal weighted average rainfall of 0.4mm in south-interior, north-interior, malnad and coastal parts, state recorded rainfall of 0.1mm. For 24-hours period ending 8.30am on January 13, four geographical regions received 0mm actual weighted average rainfall against normal weighted average rainfall of 0.1mm, on par with normal. -TOI
