Bhatkal, April 28: In the wake of heightened tensions following the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, security measures have been tightened along the coastal regions of Bhatkal, with the Indian Coast Guard and Coastal Security Police intensifying surveillance and patrolling operations.
Sources have confirmed that increased vigilance is being maintained at five key fishing ports and boat docks in the Bhatkal region. The authorities are closely monitoring fishing boat movements, particularly those entering and returning from the Arabian Sea, to detect any suspicious activity.
The Coastal Security Police teams are actively gathering intelligence on the movements and locations of foreign boats, while frequent patrols have been deployed along the shoreline. Boats arriving at docks are being thoroughly checked as part of the enhanced security protocols.
Security agencies have also turned their attention towards migrant workers in the region. As per reports, 62 workers are currently residing in Maven Korve, around 25 to 35 in Tengingundi, and 35 in Alvekodi, all of whom are from other states. Their movements and activities are under regular observation to ensure safety and rule out any unlawful involvement.
The radar system installed at the lighthouse on the Bhatkal port hill has reportedly played a crucial role in strengthening coastal surveillance. Officials said the radar is helping to track vessel movements and prevent any possible intrusion from the sea.
Additionally, security has been intensified in the Murdeshwar coastal belt, a well-known tourist destination near Bhatkal. Authorities have been seen questioning suspects in the area, and fishing boats along with local fishermen are also under surveillance as part of routine checks.
