Childline Se Dosti Week-2015 starts Nov 14

MANGALURU: Childline 1098 will launch Childline Se Dosti Week-2015, a campaign to make the public a stakeholder in childline, on November 14 . Renni D'souza, director, Childline Mangaluru 1098, said the aim of the campaign is to capture the attention of those who are unaware of its services. "Our effort is to help people play their part in protecting children," he added. Through a series of events, competitions, employee engagement programmes and publicity events, the childline will strive to make Childline 1098 a household name. ``When people from all walks of life get to know about Childline, they will begin to care about vulnerable children and appreciate the need for protecting them,'' said D'Souza. The weeklong event will get under way at Pilikula Park. After the inauguration and oath taking ceremoney there will be Puppet show, Child Rights awareness material distribution, videos on Childline apart from street play on child issues and the systems that are working for child protection. The next day also, there will be a signature campaign by children, painting by children on child issues at Pilikula. On November 16 there will be session on Protection of Children from Sexual offences Act 2012 (POCSO Act) at Infant Mary's Higher primary school Jeppu, Government School Angaragundi, Government school Kodikal and Government High school Aakash Bhavan. There will be a consultation meet with District level Officials and NGO's on Child Sexual Abuse and child protection at School Of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya on November 17. On November 19 there will be a bike rally to highlight "World Day for Prevention of Abuse and Violence against Children" from Dr Ambedkar Circle to DC office. There will be street play "Makkalu Holeyuva Nakshatragalu (Children- Shining Stars)" focusing on different issues of children and the systems that are existing for child protection at State Bank, Railway Station, KSRTC, Jyothi Circle, Lalbagh on the same day. -TOI
