Child pornography racket operated on WhatsApp group busted by CBI

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has busted a child pornography racket operating internationally on a WhatsApp group. The agency has arrested 20-year-old Nikhil Verma in connection with the case. Verma was picked from Kannuaj, Uttar Pradesh. According to CBI, the WhatsApp group was being operated from Delhi, Noida and Uttar Pradesh. CBI is checking whether the videos uploaded on the group were recorded by the accused or whether they were sourced from some other platform. Verma, along with four other suspects, was the admin of the WhatsApp group - Kidsxxx which circulated child porn clips and videos on the group. The group had 199 members and included foreign nationals from Brazil, Kenya, Nigeria, USA, China, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Pakistan. The law enforcement agencies of these countries have also been contacted by the investigation agency. CBI has also seized the administrator's laptop, mobile phone and hard disk. Four other administrators of the group Satyendra Chauhan, Nafees Reza, Zahid and Adarsh are being interrogated by the CBI in connection with the case. The accused were arrested when CBI, after receiving intelligence inputs, monitored the members and put the IP addresses of the systems and phones they used under surveillance. CBI has registered a case under section 67-B of the IT Act against administrators and members of the WhatsApp group. Identities of the victims are yet to be confirmed by the investigation agency.
