Chevrolet Enjoy launched at Rs. 5.49 lakh

Car maker General Motors today launched the Enjoy, an MUV, at a starting price of Rs. 5.49 lakh. The vehicle, from the Chevrolet stable, was launched in both petrol and diesel variants. While the petrol variants are priced between Rs. 5.49 lakh and Rs. 6.69 lakh, the diesel variants cost between Rs. 6.69 lakh and Rs. 7.99 lakh. "The Enjoy will compete in one of the fastest growing segments in India. We expect that this model will be a success considering its attributes and pricing," GM India president and managing director Lowell Paddock said at the launch. The vehicle has been re-engineered and re-designed to meet Indian conditions, he added. General Motors has gone aggressive with the new product, and will take on the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Toyota Innova head-on. The Enjoy is available in seven and eight-seater configurations and has the option of a 1.4-litre petrol and a 1.3-litre diesel engine too. The prices seem lower than the Ertiga's variant-for-variant, and of course much, much lower than the Innova's. The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga starts at Rs. 5.98 lakh for petrol and Rs. 7.39 lakh for its diesel base variant.
