Bangalore - 11 July 2011 (TOI): Wondering what happened to your passport application after police came to your house for verification You can find its status by logging in to the soon-to-be-launched website specially designed for this purpose.

Though one could learn the status of ones passport application on the internet, tracking it used to become difficult once the application reached jurisdictional police stations for verification. Now the new website will specifically tell what happened to the police verification made and also mentions the stages of the application.

Police commissionerB G Jyothiprakash Mirjion Sunday said he will speak to officials on the issue and ensure that the website is launched at the earliest. This website will tell the status of verification made.It will let the applicant know whether police have sent the application to the next stage for clearance.

In case one feels that the application is lying in a particular police station for no reason,it may be brought to the senior police officials notice, Mirji said.

He hope this website will also help police officials in clearing applications more accurately.Inspectors have been told to attend to passport-related work between 10 am and 1 pm on all Sundays.Though the applications were cleared at stations, technical snags held them up at other offices, like the passport section in the office of the commissioner of police, Mirji added.
