Dec 21: The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) is trying to finalise the dates for the Common Entrance Test (CET) 2013 and the test is likely to be held on May 14 and 15 or 16 and 17, 2013. Following the recent Supreme Court interim order on National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), the state has decided to conduct its own CET for admission to undergraduate professional courses for 2013. Usually KEA conducts CET in the last week of April or the first week of May. This time it will be scheduled in May second week due to the confusions over NEET and CET. “As per the available dates, we need to conduct CET on May 14 and 15 or 16 and 17. We need to discuss with the higher officials before announcing the dates officially,” said a KEA official. All the neighbouring states have announced their dates for CET. Kerala is conducting CET on April 22 and 23, 2013, Andhra Pradesh on May 12 and 13, West Bengal on May 1 and 2 and Maharashtra on May 8 and 9. KEA also needs to consider dates of JEE and COMED-K. KEA authorities are planning to have a meeting with private professional college managements to decide over fee structure and seat sharing. KEA will issue brochures cum application forms for CET 2013 from the second week of January.
