The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has made a change to its controversial Class 12 exam date sheet for 2018 and will now hold the Physical Education test later than scheduled. The board issued a notification on its official website (cbse.nic.in ) on Wednesday stating that the Class 12 examination date for Physical Education, has been revised to 10.30am on April 13 from April 9 (as given in the earlier released schedule.) The dates for examination of all other subjects for Class 10 and Class 12 remain the same. The board said that the date is being changed due to certain administrative reasons. Angry students, parents and teachers had earlier called for change in the date sheet of the Class 12 examination, saying it was cramped and close to the date of competitive examinations such as the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) for the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) . JEE is scheduled for April 8, a day before the physical education exam.
The board has scheduled the history exam for March 20 followed by mathematics on March 21, raising concerns that preparations could get severely affected and cause students stress with no break in between.
Three exams have been scheduled without a break from April 5 to 7 for students of the humanities stream — psychology on April 5, political science on April 6 and legal studies on April 7. Science students had also raised concerns over there being only a day’s gap for the physics exam on March 7 after English on March 5. Parents pointed out that mathematics and computer science exams have been scheduled on March 21 and March 23, respectively. However, officials had said that some papers do not have any gap as under the present system as students opt for subjects from different streams for the board exams and it was not possible to keep the exams apart. Nearly 11.86 lakh students are scheduled to appear for the CBSE Class 12 exam. Source: Hindustan Times
