The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has sought Interpol's help in procuring information on the whereabouts of missing Indian engineer Fasih Mehmood, 28, who is a terror suspect.

Hailing from Bihar's Darbhanga district, Mehmood was working in the Saudi Arabia for the past five years. According to his family, he was allegedly picked up for questioning on May 13 from his Jubail residence in the eastern province of the country by the local police.

The CBI has sent an urgent request to the Interpol "to interface between it and the Saudi Arabian authorities to uncover details about the current whereabouts of the engineer, said a CBI source. It is suspected that he is in detention in the SA, he said.

The CBI apparently wrote to the Interpol since SA authorities have until now not responded to the agency's queries and requests. "The CBI must have written over five-six times to the Saudi authorities but did not get any response. If they have detained Fasih, they should inform India as per international protocol," the source said.
