CBI raids M'luru official's premises over illegal assets

Mangaluru, July 17, 2016, DHNS: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sleuths raided seven premises in Mangaluru, Mumbai, Malegaon and Nashik belonging to Development Commissioner, Mangaluru SEZ, Vijay Kumar and his wife. The sleuths recovered Rs 99.60 lakh from his house, Rs 94.99 lakh from the office of a private firm at Andheri (W), Mumbai, 300 gram gold jewellery and 900 gram silver coins from a bank’s locker in his wife’s name and incriminating documents relating to acquisition of properties. There were allegations that Vijay Kumar had acquired disproportionate assets of Rs 5.26 crore in his name and in the names of his family members including his wife, daughter and son. The assets include residential, business and agricultural establishments. He acquired some of these properties while serving as Development Commissioner, Special Economic Zone, Surat. The sleuths registered a case against Vijay Kumar, said an official release issued by the CBI.ا
