Aman Mani Tripathi is the son of former UP minister Amar Mani Tripathi, who is already in jail in connection with the murder of poet Madhumita Shukla in 2003.
Samajwadi Party leader Aman Mani Tripathi, son of jailed politician Amar Mani Tripathi, was on Friday arrested by CBI from Delhi in connection with the alleged murder of his wife.
Former UP minister Amar Mani Tripathi is accused of killing poet Madhumita Shukla in 2003.
Sara Singh, 27-year-old wife of Aman Mani Tripathi, was killed in a car accident in Firozabad on National Highway 2 in July last year. Aman Mani, however, had escaped unhurt.
FIR REGISTERED AGAINST AMAN MANI
Based on a complaint by Sara's mother Seema Singh, an FIR was registered against Aman Mani in Firozabad district. Seema had alleged that her daughter Sara, who had married Aman Mani at an Arya Samaj temple in Lucknow in July 2013, was murdered.
Aman Mani's parents, Amar Mani and Madhu Mani, were against the marriage, Seema had said.
Aman Mani, however, had claimed that Sara died in the road accident when they were on their way to New Delhi for a holiday.
MATTER REFERRED TO CBI
After Seema had demanded that Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav order a CBI investigation into the incident, the matter was referred to the central agency, which took over the probe from UP Police a few days later.
Aman Mani was recently given a ticket by the Samajwadi Party to contest Assembly elections in the state.
