Bengaluru: A police complaint has been filed against BJP leader and Udupi MP Shobha Karandlaje for her remarks against Peejawar Seer. The complaint accuses her of having hurt the people's religious sentiments by insulting the pontiff by stating that he "lacks knowledge about Modi’s administration." On June 1, Sri Vishweshwara Theertha of Sri Pejawar Matt had stated that Modi's government had not met the expectations of the people in its four-year rule. He also brought up the fact that River Ganga had not yet been cleaned despite several promises made by the BJP before the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. When asked about her opinion regarding the the seer's remarks, Shobha had allegedly called him a "uninformed monk" who lacks knowledge about Modi's administration. It is gathered that Nataraj Sharma, lawyer in Bengaluru, has filed a case at the Vidhana Soudha Police Station claiming these remarks hurt the religious sentiments of the pontiff's followers.
