Byndoor: AC compartment of Nizamuddin Express train catches fire due to short circuit

Byndoor: In an incident reported from Byndoor of Udupi District, fire was reported from a running train in the wee hours of Sunday at around 1.30 am.
The incident came to light at 1.30 am in the AC compartment of the train. Initially the incident didn’t come to light but alertness of a woman passenger averted a major tragedy.
The incident was reported on Nizamuddin Express train that was heading towards Ernakulam from Mumbai. The reason behind the incident is said to be a short circuit in the AC compartment of the train. A woman passenger who was to alight the train at Kundapur station was preparing for it when she noticed fire in the compartment and informed the TC. The TC immediately stopped the train and extinguished the fire.
No major injury or casualties were reported in the incident. A few passengers sustained minor injuries while the train was damaged due to the incident.
The damaged compartment was replaced and a separate compartment was arranged for the passengers before the train continued its journey for Ernakulam in Kerala.
